What are dental veneers?

If you’re looking to improve the appearance of damaged or stained teeth, dental veneers may be the right solution for you. The Bloom Dental Group team in San Mateo, California, offers dental veneer solutions to bring you a brighter smile.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are a convenient, long-term solution for those who have chipped, stained, or damaged teeth and wish to improve their smiles. Veneers can also help people who suffer from worn enamel, gaps, and broken and uneven teeth.

Veneers are a thin piece of porcelain fitted to look like natural teeth which we adhere to the surface of the affected tooth. They typically cover the entire front-facing surface of the tooth. Most veneers can last anywhere from 10-20 years.

In most cases, veneers require two visits. During the first visit, we’ll take an impression of your teeth that will be used to create well-fitting veneers, and we’ll shape your existing teeth if needed to fit the veneers. Once your custom veneers are ready, you’ll come back and have them cemented to your teeth. The process is pain-free and you will be able to enjoy your bright new smile immediately.

What is dental bonding?

Bonding is conducted with a composite resin to repair smaller areas and chips, and is sometimes used for emergency cases. Bonding only requires one visit but bonded teeth repairs are less long-lasting than full porcelain veneers.

Your doctor will help determine which treatment option is right for you.

How much do veneers cost?

Veneer costs vary depending on the size and number of teeth being treated. They may cost from $750 to $2,000 per tooth, but they can last up to 20 years each.
