We founded Bloom Dental Group with an emphasis on service — both in our local Bay Area community and around the world. We even derived our name from this concept: our goal is to help communities “bloom” with access to excellent care.
After a year of supporting our local community, we’re looking abroad for our next service mission: we’re going to Kenya!
We’re pleased to announce our partnership with IsraAID, the leading non-governmental organization (NGO) serving disaster zones around the world.
For over a decade, IsraAID’s team of professional medics, search and rescue squads, post-trauma experts, and community mobilizers have been first on the front lines of nearly every major humanitarian response in the 21st century. They have served over a million people worldwide.
Alongside IsraAID, we are planning a 9-day dental clinic at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.
Sadly, Kakuma is the largest refugee camp in the world. Over 180,000 people live there, and 70% are women and children. The name Kakuma translates to “nowhere,” and currently there is no access to dental care in the camp.
To jumpstart our dental clinic and help us serve the population of Kakuma, IsraAID has generously purchased over $50,000 of specialized dental care equipment.
Henry Schein, the world’s largest dental supply company, has also generously donated thousands of dollars worth of supplies so we can provide the best care possible to our patients in Kenya.
Dr. Tamir, Dr. Diaz, and our friend Dr. Marquez will be leaving for Kenya at the end of the month and will be holding an intensive dental clinic at the refugee camp. The team will complete everything from routine check-ups to fillings and even surgeries while they are there. They hope to treat as many people as possible during this trip and return on an ongoing basis throughout the years.
We can’t wait to share photos and videos along the way! Make sure to follow us on Instagram @bloomdentalgroup for the latest updates.
